Welcome to the Northeast Mariner Swim Team Bulletin Board
2009 High School Girl Swimmers Keep in shape with your swimming through the winter. Mariner swim team has no practice requirements so you can practice 1-4 times each week depending on your schedule and goals. What do I have to do to swim with the Mariner's? 1. You must be a member of the YMCA for the duration of the season. There are teen memberships available with no joiners fee. If you join in December you only need a 3 month membership. 2. You must register for the team and pay the registration fee of $195 after December 1.
2009/ 2010 Mariner Swim Team Registration Fee The fee for the swim team season (September 15 to March 26) is $280. There is a per child discount of 15% available for families with multiple children swimming. Each participant must maintain a current Northeast Family YMCA membership throughout the swim season. This fee includes the fee to swim the section and state meets. Credit card installment plans are available (see Jen Meyer for more information). Financial Aid is also available (contact the front desk for a Financial Aid Form). There is a reduced fee of $195 for swimmers, such as high school swimmers enrolling after December 1.
Team Suit Team suits will be purchased through Pure Blue this year. Use code PBTEAM15 to receive a discount off any items not listed on the team page. Pureblue will no longer be accepting orders for apparel for our team. You may still order suits and gear (they will be the Twin Cities Invite as well). In the event you are still interested in team apparel, please email Diane Jones dijoneswbl@msn.com and let her know. She is exploring other avenues for ordering.

Pool Renovation After significant review of the best possible pool design along with related cost factors, we've been able to make an improvement the wall separating the "competitive" and "recreational" 25-yard pools. This wall, originally conceived to be 1 foot wide, will now be 5 feet wide, and usable as a walkway. As a peninsula extending out about 6/7ths the width of the pool, it will not, however, link across the entire pool, unless someone can provide funding to build a bridge over the gap through which swimmers pass to move between the two pool areas. However, it will allow swim officials, swim coaches, and instructors better access to do their duties. I have attached a design update so you can see what this really looks like. Final Pool Design
Welcome new coaches Erin, Jenny & Curtis for the 2009/2010 season.
Communications During Displacement The bulletin board across from the sauna has been given to the Mariners. We will be posting meet information, newsletters and other items weekly beginning next week. Mailboxes will be at the East YMCA, possibly other locations. A new turn in folder will be at each location. Swimmers will be told once we are at those locations.
Swim Team Strength Training The YMCA fitness staff is going to have a studio class for all Mariner swimmers ages 12 and up. This is a studio class taught by a certified fitness instructor. We strongly encourage anyone who maybe interested, to attend the first class. This means everyone can get trained the first day. Studio Strength Training The studio class will change times beginning next week (Feb 10th). It will run from 4:30-5:15 and be a boot camp style class. We will continue to offer the studio through March as long as attendance remains good.
High School Boys Swim Team If you are interested in joining the WBL high school boys swim team next year contact kari.urban@comcast.net. Interest needs to be shown by the parents for this to be offered next year.
